Current Information:Age-31 19 Pulteney Street, Barnsbury Tancrez Farm Cemetery, Belgium In early June, 1915, 12th Division, including 7th East Surrey of 37 Brigade, reached France and in late June, after a period of trench instruction around Armentières, they took over a sector of the front line near Ploegsteert. 7th East Surrey had their first experience of the trenches between 30th June and 4th July after which they moved into billets in Pont de Nieppe. On 16th July they moved into the front line at Le Bizet. Two days later on 18th July, the Battalion diary reported a very quiet day but obviously not quiet enough for Private Theobald who was one of the two men killed in action on this day. |
